Mangalore, August 28: In view of the upcoming Eidul Fitr and Ganesh Chaturthi festivals, the district police have beefed up the security across the district even as additional forces have been deployed in some of the sensitive areas.
However, Mangalore commissioner Seemanth Kumar Singh and the Superintendent of Police Labu Ram have made it clear that there was no need to panic and urged both Hindu and Muslim community members to observe festivals in the true spirit.
The city police have already conducted meetings of leaders from Hindu, Muslim and Christian communities in view of the upcoming festivals.
“We have also held peace meetings in almost all the police station areas under the jurisdiction of the commissionerate. Besides the police personnel available with us, we have also deployed KSRP, homeguards and DAR platoons for service,” Mr. Singh said.
“We have taken all precautionary measure to avert any untoward incident,” said Labhu Ram.
