Mangalore, September 3: Kanara Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) felicitated three achievers who passed Institute of Chartered Ship-brokers (ICS) training programme for the year 2010-11 at KCCI Conference Room on Friday.
Huebert D'Souza, Prashanth and Kumar are the three Mangaloreans who have cleared all the papers and passed training programme among 14 members who joined the course during the initial year in 2009-10.
Speaking about the significance of ICS qualification, ICS course convener Captain John Prasad Menezes said that the internationally recognized training programme by ICS adds extra qualification to those who are involved in shipping industry.
“The ICS training programme is imparted in four levels namely, basics of shipping, principles of shipping business, economics of sea transport and legal aspects of shipping. ICS membership takes one to a very different world of commercial activity,” he said.
KCCI President Latha R Kini presided over the function.
