Mangalore, September 5: A fund of Rs 10 crore should be released by the State Government from the Natural Calamity fund as only Rs 1 crore has been released this year, stressed MLA U T Khader in a press meet on Saturday.
Stating that the district road conditions are pathetic, he said that heavy rains have destroyed roads completely. The road conditions can be greatly improved if the funds are released which is otherwise impossible. As much as Rs 11 crores have to be paid to the contractors who are suffering with the delayed payment, he said.
He also added that former Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa has done a lot to his district Shimoga and even D V Sadananda Gowda should take similar steps for DK district's development. Commenting on the Chief Minister's support for Jan Lokpal Bill, he said in case he is really against corruption, then immediate action should be taken on the basis of Lokayukta report. It is not right to make BSY the scapegoat of all corruption charges. All members from BJP party who were involved in the scams are equally responsible, he said.
Speaking on the Anna Hazare protest, Khader said that Congress government has proved in action that all have an equal right in democracy and even a seventh standard pass Hazare can question the Prime Minister. It has shown that it is against corruption by passing the Jan Lokpal bill to the standing committee, he said and regretted that BJP made the issue of Anna Hazare protest sentimental and played a political game. The Gujarat government which is ruled by the BJP has not appointed Lokayukta since seven years, he informed and said the BJP is playing double standard.
