Mangalore, September 12: District In-charge Minister Krishna J Palemar urged the people to follow the footsteps of Brahmasri Narayana Guru, who fought for social equality.
Speaking at the 157th birth anniversary of Brahmasri Narayana Guru organised under the joint auspices of All India Billava Union and Narayana Guru Education Institutes at Narayana Guru College Auditorium in Kudroli near here on Sunday, he said mere celebrating the birth anniversary of great people.
He said when Billava Union requested for a Billava hostel, then-chief minister B S Yeddyurappa had promised two acres of land. One acre land has already been sanctioned for this purpose near Kunjattabail. Decision on another acre would be taken on the Cabinet meeting to be held on September 14, he said.
Billava Union President Naveen Chandra D Suvarna presided over the programme.
