Mangalore, September 12: Newly appointed chairman of Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy Kasaragod Chinna assumed charge at the Academy office here on Monday.
Speaking on the occasion, he said he would organise more Konkani literary and cultural programmes during his three-year tenure.
“Special emphasis will be given to spread Konkani language, culture and heritage,” he said.
He pointed out that his Academy was a unique organisation as it transcended barriers of religions and castes. “The Mangalorean Catholic Christians, the Muslim Navayath community, and various castes following Hindu religion spoke Konkani language, making it a unique one,” he noted.
“As the Chairman, I will try to do justice to all the communities and treat them equally without any partiality”, he assured.
