Ullal, September 17: U K Monu, President of Ullal Juma Masjid and Sayyid Madani Darga Committee, has resigned from his post.

Mr Monu, who had secured the president's post after U K Ibrahim's demise, had created a controversy in last June, by walking out of a meeting convened by Assistant Quazi Fazal Koyamma Thangal, for the election of new president.

In the same meeting Mr Koyamma had temporarily appointed Ashraf Ahmed as president, which led to mayhem within the Dargah committee.

However, the very next week Mr Monu had been re-appointed as the president with the consent of all 55 members of the committee. Ullal Qazi had asked Mr Monu to continue in the post till December, 2011.

Mr Mon on Saturday confirmed that he has taken a firm decision to resign from the post. “I am resigning from the post for personal reasons. I have also taken the permission of Ullal Qazi before quitting the responsible post,” he said adding that he is not ready to become the president once again.

The Karnataka government has announced that Nandini milk will become ₹4 costlier per litre starting April 1, 2025. This is the second price hike this year.

The decision was made during a cabinet meeting led by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. Karnataka Cooperation Minister K N Rajanna and Animal Husbandry Minister K Venkatesh said the increase is meant to support dairy farmers by covering the rising costs of producing and processing milk.

Officials also said that:

>> The extra money from the price hike will go directly to the milk producers.

>> The earlier ₹2 price hike (announced on June 26, 2024) will be withdrawn.

>> The new price hike of ₹4 will apply to both 500 ml and 1-litre packets.
