A woman, who looks after the sanitation work at the Temple noticed the crying baby in front of the glass house of Sri Kshetra in the morning and informed the managing committee.
The baby wore a black-and-white-mixed frock and a pair of gold earrings.
It was not confirmed who and why deserted the baby in the holy place. However, the managing committee of the Temple was confident to find out the person, who left behind the baby, as closed-circuit television cameras have been fixed across the Temple.
The committee has already lodged a complaint with Mangalore North Police Station, Women and Child Welfare Department and Child Welfare Committee.
“Parents of the girl-child might have left behind her in the Temple due to economic problems or with a hope of a bright future for her, or for some other reasons,” opined Padmaraj, Trustee of the Temple.
He said that the child has been shifted to hospital for medical check-up in the presence of police and Childline officials.
“Former minister B Janardhan Poojary, who is the patron of the Temple, and other office bearers of the managing committee have agreed to provide money for the treatment of the child through Temple fund if necessary” he added.
