Mangalore, September 21: A Tamil Nadu based man allegedly killed his wife and then tried to end his own life at the residential quarters of Karnataka Forest Development Corporation at Mandekara in Aittoor village in Puttur taluk.
The victim has been identified as Pandeshwari (27), a temporary worker at a local rubber tapping centre. She was staying at the quarters allotted to her mother Devika, along with her husband Sundara Murthy (33) and son Prajwal (4).
The incident occurred when Parameshwari returned home from work on Tuesday afternoon for lunch.
It is said that a quarrel broke out between the couple on some issue and in a fit of rage Sundara Murthy assaulted his wife with a sickle.
SP Labhu Ram, who visited the crime scene, said the accused who sustained injuries in the scuffle has been hospitalised and would be arrested once he is discharged.
Sundara Murthy later revealed that after killing wife, he also had tried to end his life by slitting his throat.
A case under murder has been registered in Kadaba police station.
