Udupi, October 1: Billava community leaders of Udupi, on Saturday, demanded the government to handover the suicide case of young athlete Prithvi Amparu either to the COD or to a team headed by Superintendent of Police.
Addressing a press conference here former MLA and district Congress President Gopal Poojary said that absence of police in the hostel when her body was pulled down, refusal by the police to register a complaint against the suspects, Prithvi's phone call to her father prior to suicide, saying she had been tortured in the hostel, missing of four crucial pages from the diary recovered by the police etc make one suspect her suicide.
They do not have confidence in the investigation conducted by Brahmavar Police or by the Brahmavar Circle Inspector. “Police must investigate the role of hostel warden and her coach”, Poojary added.
President of Kundapura taluk Billava Association Suresh Poojary said that they had been pressurising the government to know the persons or reasons behind her suicide by an impartial inquiry.
Former Karkaal MLA Sunil Kumar also demanded the police to investigate the SMS's and mobile calls reaching her mobile and vis versa. Former MP Vinay Kumar Sorake, Udupi CMC President Kiran Kumar, Chairman of Mysore Tobacco Company BN Shankar Poojary, Kundapur Taluk Billava Association President NT Poojary and others were present at the press meet.
