Child slips into open well; mother too dies in rescue bid

Karkala, October 6: A young mother united in death with her child, after the latter accidentally slipped and fell into an open well under the limits of Ajekaru Police Station near here.

The deceased have been identified as Asha (24), a resident of Kalikamba Janata Colony near Ajekaru village, and her one year old son Puneet.

It is said that Asha, who was washing clothes on Wednesday evening, could not notice that her child had reached near the open well. When she heard the noise of Puneet falling into the well, she plunged into well in order to rescue him. However, both of them met watery grave.

A case has been registered at Ajekaru police station.

Basically hailing from Kadari village, Asha had married to one Krishnaiah four years ago and was leading a happy family life.
