Kasaragod, October 10: Two persons were killed and twenty others injured in a head on collision between a private bus and an Innova car on a national highway at Santosh Nagar on the outskirts of the city.
The deceased have been identified as Sri Kumar (47), the car owner and businessman hailing from Kannur Thota, and Manikantha (37), the car driver hailing from Chakkarakkal.
The ghastly accident took place at around 1:30 pm. The impact of the accident was such that the newly bought car has reduced into a bundle of metals.
The traffic was disrupted for over half-an-hour due to the accident, as two vehicles had completely blocked the road.
Among the injured are Shankar Pillai (45) from Mailati Kunnumal, his wife Janaki (40), Jojy Mathew (33) from Palakkad, V Narayanan (55), member of Kasaragod district committee of CPM, Sitalaxmi (50) from Periyatta, Karicchi (60) fromYennapara, Abdul Rehman (60) of Cherkala, Sajida (26) from Kannur, Sunil Kumar (30) and Usha (33) from Taliparamba, Damodar Nambiar (55) from Ponachi, Netu (14) from Chimeni, Dhanya (25) from Periya and Baby (32) wife of Suresh from Koodlumannippady have been admitted to various hospitals in the city.
A case has been registered at Vidyanagar police station.
