Mangalore, October, 13: A man who was illegally transporting wooden logs has been arrested red-handed by Mangalore forest mobile squad police.
The accused has been identified as M S Haider (36), a resident of Karingan Bantwal Taluk.
Acting on a tip off, a team of police comprising of PSI Manjunath K R, head constable Seetharam and constables Umesh Hosolige, Ramachandra Maniyani, Bashir, Narayana, Honnappa Gowda, and Harishchandra Gowda, arrested Haider, and seized wooden logs worth Rs 75000 along with a pick-up vehicle Kotekar near here.
It is said that the accused was planning to transport the wooden logs illegally to Kerala.
The total amount of the seized goods is estimated at Rs 2.55 lakh. The case has been transferred to Mangalore division forest officer for further investigation.
