Mangalore, October 15: A 29-year old mother and her two little children found drowned to death in a pond at Bellarampady village of Ubaradka in Sullia taluk on Friday.
Sharmila Bhat, wife of Padmanabha Bhat of Kanyana, her son Sudhanva Bhat (6) and daughter Sneha Bhat (8 months) are the deceased.
It is assumed that Sharmila Bhat might have thrown her two chidren into the pond in the farm of her father in Bellarampady and later jumped into it as well.
The incident occurred when Sharmila Bhat's father Gopalkrishna Bhat had been to Sullia in the morning. Sharmila had been to the farm along with her children. When they did not return after a long time, her mother Lalith went to fetch them home. However, she could only see the dead bodies of her daughter and grand-children.
Sharmila had married to Padmanabh eight years ago. The couple along with their children had visited Bellarampady on Wednesday. After spending two days with his in-laws, Padmanabh had left house around 7 am on Friday, saying that he would come back next week to take his family back home.
Sullia Circle inspector Tharanath, SI Praveen oand others visited the spot for investigation.
