Mangalore, October 15: Former Karnataka Lokayukta and anti-corruption activist N Santosh Hegde on Saturday said that he would consider the implementation of his report on illegal mining in the state by the government as a victory.
Reacting to a reporter's query, whether he would consider the arrest warrant issued against former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa as his victory, the former ombudsman said that he is not going to celebrate anybody's arrest.
Mr Hegde was here to participate in a special ceremony for the youth to take oath against corruption, organised under the joint auspices of Anti-Corruption Committee, Mangalore and Social and Cultural Research Centre, Canara College at T V Raman Pai Hall.
“There is no question of victory or defeat in this particular issue. If the state government takes steps to implement the Lokayukta report on illegal mining, it will be our victory”, he said.
“I did not play any role in issuing arrest warrant against Yeddyurappa. But, it is fact that he was named in my report on illegal mining”, he added.
Asked about the statement of senior lawyer and Team Anna member Prashant Bhushan on Jammu and Kashmir and Sri Ram Sena's demand to Anna Hazare to drop him from the team, Mr Hegde said: “The statement was Mr Bhooshan's personal opinion and there is no need to drop him from the team Anna on the basis of Sena's demand.”
“Our struggle is against corruption. Not for Kashmir”, he added.
