Siblings, couple killed in Mangalore-Mumbai bus crash

Ankola, October 15: Four people including two children were killed and over a dozen people sustained severe injuries when a passenger bus plying from Mangalore to Mumabi met with a ghastly road accident on National Highway 63, near Kodlugadde on Ankola-Yellapur.

The deceased children have been identifies as Rajith (10) and Rishitha (7) siblings from Mulky. According to local sources, a Karkala based couple was also killed in the mishap. Most of the injured are said to be the residents of Dakshiana Kannada district.

The accident occurred at around 11: 30 pm when the bus driver, in a bid to avoid collision with an oncoming lorry at a curve, took to the extreme left. The bus made a somersault before entering a drain when the driver lost control over it.

A case has been registered at Ankola police station.
