Three massage parlours raided; 13 held

Mangalore, October 18: Thirteen persons including eleven working women and two customers were arrested for alleged prostitution, when Kadri police teams raided three massage parlours in the city late Monday night.

Six among the arrested girl have been identified as Gracy Bantwal, Nazi Bantwal, Reema, Veena, Usha and Maria.

A police personnel on condition of anonymity said that the raids were carried out at Kankanady, Kadri and Balmatta after receiving complaints from certain organisations about immoral and illegal activities in the massage parlours.

Chaitanya Ayurvedic Centre and Amrutha Ayurvadic Centre were among raided parlours. Cash and mobile phones have been recovered by the police during raids.

Police said that they are interrogating the arrested. However, police are yet to provide details about the raid.

Karnataka BJP MLA Munirathna, 6 others booked for rape at resort, criminal intimidation

Ramanagara, Sep 19: A case of rape, sexual harassment and criminal intimidation has been registered against BJP MLA Munirathna and six others, police said on Thursday.

It was registered following the complaint of a 40-year-old woman who alleged that the incident took place at a private resort within the Kaggalipura police station’s jurisdiction.

“We received a complaint on Wednesday night and based on it, we have registered case against seven people, including the BJP MLA under various sections for rape by public servant, sexual harassment, criminal intimidation, criminal conspiracy, voyeurism, intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace, Information Technology Act, and others,” a senior police officer said.

The matter is being investigated, he said.

The fresh FIR against the BJP MLA, also a former Minister, comes days after he was arrested by the Bengaluru Police in connection with the two cases filed against him for alleged harassment, threats and casteist abuse, police said.

Mangaluru: 5 miscreants held for pelting stones at masjid near Surathkal

Mangaluru: Police have arrested five miscreants belonging to saffron outfits for pelting stones at a masjid at Katipalla near Surathkal on the outskirts of the city last night.

The arrested have been identified as Bharat, Chennappa, Nitin, Manu and Sujit all residents of Surathkal and surrounding areas. Among them, Bharat is said to be a rowdy sheeter.

The miscreants, who came on two motorbikes late on Sunday night, pelted stones at Masjidul Huda, located at 3rd block of Katipalla on the eve of Miladunnabi.

Confirming the incident, City Police Commissioner Anupam Agrawal said that investigation is in progress and a case has been registered at Surathkal police station.
