Mangalore, October 21: Frustrated residents of Ballalbagh staged a protest on Ballalbagh-Sri Devi College –KSRTC Road recently to draw the attention of Mangalore City Corporation to repair the road and remove silt from storm-water drains at the earliest.
Ganesh, a resident, said that the corporation workers had removed stone slabs of a culvert cutting across the road four days ago. As a result, four-wheelers could not ply on the road. Only two-wheelers could ply. Residents were facing problems because of delay in relaying the stone slabs.
He alleged that the corporation was not bothered about removing silt from storm-water drains on the roadside. The residents would intensity their agitation if the corporation did not solve their problems at the earliest. They staged a protest for an hour from 5.30 p.m.
When contacted, K. Padmanabha, councillor, Kodialbail ward, said that stone slabs had been removed for re-building the culvert whose embankments had collapsed. The work would commence in a week. He said that the road would be asphalted.
