Kasaragod, October 23: Section 144 of the Kerala Police Act was clamped under the limits of the Vidyanagar and Kasaragod police stations. The District Collector imposed the prohibitory order for seven days from Sunday.
The order was passed since a section of the people tried to take out a march in Uliyathadka in Madhur grama panchayat where a youth returning home was stabbed by a group of unidentified miscreants riding a motor bike around 10.30pm on Saturday. The miscreants made good their escape after committing the crime.
The youth Haneef,19, son of Subair of Uliyathdaka was rushed to a private hospital in Mangalore.
Police suspect that the stabbing of the youth was part of a move to create communal tension in the area. The district office of the DYFI had come under attack a few days ago, but the police immediately nabbed the miscreants.
A heavy contingent of police are keeping vigilance in Uliyathadka town following the incident. The police staged a flag march in the town in the evening.
