Mangalore, October 26: Although a strong Lokpal Bill is the need of hour, it alone cannot eliminate corruption from the country, opined former Karnataka Lokayukta Justice N Santosh Hegde.

He was addressing a meeting organised by Mangalore Senior Citizens' Association at Karnataka Bank Hall, here on Tuesday.

Mr Hegde, who is also a member of Team Anna said that entire country should be united against corruption and corrupt politics.

Stating that tolerance of the people towards corruption is the prime reason for widespread scandals in India, the former ombudsman exhorted the people to exhibit their maximum strength in fight against corruption.

He also said that senior citizens have a responsibility of teaching their younger generation not to pursue any illegal way to amass wealth.
