Udupi police seize 32 cattle in slaughter house raid

Udupi, November 7: DCIB police headed by its inspector Ganesh Hegade on Sunday morning raided a temporary slaughter house in Janatha colony of Chandranagara in Padoor village and arrested three persons.

They seized 32 cattle stored in the courtyard to slaughter them on the eve of Bakrid.

The arrested are Hasanabba Beary (66) of Janatha Colony, who was operating the slaughter house, Rahim (28) and Yasin (32). One Manju fled the scene while seeing police.

On a tip off DCIB police had raided the slaughter house at around 7 am.

People gathered there protested saying that the slaughtering cattle was an annual affair on the eve of Bakrid and they must be allowed prepare beef.

As they failed to produce any license required to run the slaughterhouse, police took all the accused to custody. The accused have been sent judicial custody.
