Mangalore, November 13: The Bearys' Welfare Association, Bangalore organised Scholarship Awards-2011 programme at Jamiyathul Falah Hall in Kankanady, Mangalore on Saturday.
125 poor and eligible students of Beary Community were benefited from the event.
Presiding over the programme, Deputy Speaker of Karnataka Legislative Assembly N Yogesh Bhat suggested the Association to consider providing health insurance.
Mangalore MP Nalin Kumar Kateel said that by distributing scholarship among poor students, the Association is indeed serving the God.
He also opined that the Beary community is immensely contributing to the banking field in Dakshina Kannada district.
Mangalore MLA UT Khader, Mulky-Moodbirdri MLA Abhaychandra Jain, Karnataka Beary Sahitya Academy president M B Abdul Rehman and Congress leader Moideen Bava were present among others.
