Mangalore, November 27: The newly constructed auditorium of Koolur Muhiyyuddin Jum'a Masjid was inaugurated on Sunday at Panjimogaru on the outskirts of the city.
Assayyid Abdurrahman Thangal, Qazi of Ullal and principal of Sayyid Madani Arabic College carried out the inaugural rituals in the presence of Mangalore MP Nalin Kumar Kateel and others.
The auditorium was constructed at the coast of Rs 1.75 crore. The minority welfare department of Karnataka government had granted Rs 50 lakh for the construction.
It has a seating capacity of 2000 people including 750 seats in the dining hall. 24 hours generator facility and a parking space of 37 cents are other features of the auditorium.
Haji K Ayyoob, President, Muhiyyuddin Jum'a Masjid, presided over the programme.
Praveen Anchan, Mayor, Haji Y Mohammed Kunhi, Member, Karnataka State Wakf Board and T M Shaheed, Member, Coir Board of India were present among others.
