Mangalore, November 28: Protesting against the pathetic condition of the inner roads under the limits of Mangalore City Corporation, the City Committee of Democratic Youth Federation of India on Monday staged a demonstration in front of the MCC building.
Dozens of people took part in the 'MCC Chalo' rally, which commenced from Ballal-Bagh and culminated in front of the MCC building, where they warned the civic body of intensifying the protest if their demands were not.
The protesters expressed their anger against the civic body's negligence towards the unmotorable inner roads of the city, pending road repair works and unscientific concertisation.
Addressing the protesters, DYFI State Vice President Muneer Katipalla held both MCC and State Government responsible pathetic condition of the inner roads of the city.
“We need not to show where the potholes are. Let Chief Minister DV Sadananda Gowda show where roads are” he said.
He also said that the so called 'Sundara Mangalore Project' is aimed at serving real estate mafia and not for the road construction or any other development activities.
There are no less than 60 wards in MCC. But, the corporators spend money only on the wards of their interests, he said.
Low quality work and improper drainage facilities have worsened the situation of unmotorable roads, he added.
DYFI city presidents BK Imtiyaz, Secretary Santhosh Bajal, Dayananda Shetty, Naveen Konchadi, Sadik Kannur and others were present.
