Udupi, November 30: The controversial ritual of rolling over the soiled plantain leaves 'made snana' held at Subrahmanya Gudi of Sri krishna Temple in Udupi on the 'shashti' day of Wednesday.
Around 30 to 40 lower caste Hindus, including women and children, rolled over the spoiled plantain leaves of Brahmin devotees.
In the beginning Paryaya Shiroor Mutt pontiff Sri Laxmivara Theertha Swamiji offered aarathi to the idol of Subrahmanya and gave away prasadam, following which devotees had mass meals, in front of the Subrahmanya Gudi.
After the mass meals, devotees offered made-snana.
Sri Laxmivara Theertha Swamiji said that devotees believed that offering 'made Snana' would solve their problems and it was not fair to question their belief.
According to sources, made snana was also observed in Subrahmanya temples of Sooda, Ullooru, Muchlakodu, Moodusagri, Kalavara etc.
