Mangalore, December 1: Cruise vessel M V Nautica with 662 cruise passengers and 397 crew members called at NMPT on Thursday, December 1.
This is the sixth cruise vessel calling at the Port during the current financial year 2011-12.
The vessel, which came from Goa, continued tis journey towards Cochin in the evening.
Majority of the passengers on board the vessel were from USA, Canada, Germany and United Kingdom. They opted for ground tour and enjoyed the scenic beauty and cultural heritage of Dakshina Kannada District like 1000 Pillar Jain temple, monolithic statue of gomateshwara, Gokarnanatha temple, St. Aloysius chapel, Kadri temple, cashew factory, city shopping etc.
These tourists were taken around by the local ground tour operators, M/s Lia Travels and the agents of the ship are M/s J.M. Baxi & Co.
The captain and passengers of the vessel were very much impressed upon the world class facilities available at the Cruise Lounge, neat and tidy berth area, concretised roads, security arrangements, emigration facility, greenery in and around the port, availability of local ground tour operators, proximity to tourist areas, etc.
During the interaction the passengers expressed their satisfaction during their short stay at Mangalore and enjoyed the tourist areas.
Some of them stated that this is their second visit to Mangalore and are eager to visit again.
Dr P Tamilvanan, Chairman, NMPT, stated that this is the fifth voyage of M V Nautica at NMPT during the last couple of years.
He has added that five more cruise vessels are scheduled to be called at the Port during the remaining period of the current month.
