Sullia, December 2: Police have arrested six persons in connection with the assault on K S Shivaramu, president of Karnataka Rajya Hindulida Vargagala Jagrutha Vedike.
Mr Shivaramu was assaulted outside the government-run Kukke Subrahmanya temple in Sullia taluk by a group of people, apparently belonging to the same temple on Wednesday, after the former met Assistant Commissioner of Puttur subdivision Sundar Bhat and submitted a memorandum urging the Dakshina Kannada administration to prohibit the ritual of 'made snana'.
The victim has identified the main attacker as Nagesh and 25 others. Subrahmanya police had registered a case against all the accused.
However, sources said that the main accused Nagesh still at large and cops have launched a manhunt for him.
