Be grateful to BJP Govt: Minority Morcha leader to Christians

Mangalore, December 3: Welcoming the State government's decision to withdraw all 23 criminal cases against Christian youth booked during serial Church attacks in the city in September 2008, State BJP Minority Morcha Vice President Franklin Monteiro said that the ruling party of the State has been making sincere efforts for the overall development of Christian community.

Mr Monteiro addressing the media persons at District BJP Office on Saturday said that the BJP-led State Government has also allotted Rs 50 crore to set up a Christian Development Corporation. He said that Corporation will have eight nominated non-government members besides four high level government officials.

Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda has already released Rs 30 crore on December 1. The remaining amount would be released soon, he informed.

Calling upon the Christian community members of the State to utilise the government schemes, Mr Monteiro also urged them to be grateful to the BJP government.

He also said, after BJP came to power in the State, members of Christian community leading their lives fearlessly. This is not only in Karnataka but in all the states where BJP is in power, he said.

State Assembly Deputy Speaker N Yogish Bhat, BJP District President Padmanabha Kottary and others were present.
