Mangalore, December 5: City's Town Hall was on Sunday alive with music as the concert 'Naada Vittala-Veda Vittala' organised by the Sangeeth Bharathi Foundation enthralled the gathering.
The concert was a Hindustani vocal jugalbandi by Pt Jayatheerth Menundi, Hubli and Pt Anad Bhate, Pune. Accompanying them on the harmonium were Narendra L Nayak, Sri Bharath Kamath on the tabla, Sri Prasad Joshi on the Paakhawaaz and Pt Jhaneshwar Takalkar on the Taal.
The evening began with lamp lighting by Jayaram Kamath, Chief Manager Karnataka Bank and other members of the foundation including Rafiq Khan , president of Sangeeth Bharathi Foundation. The concert began with a basic ragas of Hindustani music and then with Santalaami Jugalbandi by the two artists.
Pt Jayatheerth Menundi has been training in Hindustani Classical music since the age 10 and in 2007 has won the Young Maestro award. He has also given various performances in India and abroad. Pt Anand Bhate has been training under Yashwanth Rao Marathe and at age 13 gave a performance in Chicago. He has also been fortunate enough to be a student of Late Pt Bhimshen Joshi. Apart from music Anand Bhate also holds a top position at Zensar Technologies.
The evening's concert began with a basic 'alaap' and then went on to give the audience Jugalbandi of high quality.
