Mangalore, December 7: Nearly two-hundred children with disabilities on Wednesday took part in the district level special sports and games competition at Mangala Stadium in the city.
The two-day-long event, which will conclude on Thursday evening, is organised by Bharat Special Olympics to mark World Disability Day 2011.
The special children participated in running race, wheel chair race, walk with walking stick, ball in the bucket, short put and javelin throw.
The event was inaugurated by B Nagaraj Shetty, Chairman, Costal Development Authority. Ln MJF P Kishore Rao, Dist Governor, Dist-324 D5 presided over the programme.
Moses Jayashekhar, DDPI, Mangalore, N Parshwanath, Dist Youth Welfare Officer and A Shakuntala, Deputy Director, Department of Women and Child Welfare, were present among others during inaugural session.
Winners will be awarded trophies and all participants will be given consolation prizes at the end of the event.
