Mangalore, December 11: A yearlong series of programmes was kick started on Sunday at Shanthi Cathedral, Balmatta, here, as part of its post centenary golden jubilee celebration.
Rt Rev Dr J S Sadananda, Bishop, KSD formally inaugurated the programme.
A special inaugural worship service and a special revival meeting were arranged to set the tone of thanksgiving.
The Pastorate committee and the entire congregation were present on the occasion. Bishop Sampath Kumar was the main speaker in these meetings.
The cathedral will complete 150 glorious years on December 11, 2012.
Having a glorious tradition of 150 years, the Shanthi Cathedral has more than 500 families comprising of nearly 2300 members.
The special committee constituted to oversee the Post Centenary Golden Jubilee celebrations has many programs on its anvil.
The year-long programmes include the renovation of the 150 year old church, special spiritual revival meetings, social and cultural fests and outreach programs under the supervision of different committees.
