Mangalore, December 18: Deputy Speaker of the Karnataka Legislative Assembly and Mangalore South MLA N Yogish Bhat narrowly escaped unhurt in what could have been a fatal road mishap at Peraje near Sullia on the outskirts of the city.
However, his wife Vijaya Bhat and five others sustained injuries when the car in which they were travelling turned turtle after falling into a roadside ditch. The injured have been admitted to a private hospital for treatment, sources said.
The accident occurred in the wee hours of Sunday, when Mr Bhat was on his way to Mysore from the city along with his wife and relatives.
It is learnt that there were seven people in the car including the driver. The exact reason for the accident is yet to be known.
It can be recalled that the official vehicle Mr Bhat had collided with the car of Dakshina Kannada district in-charge Minister J Krishna Palemar near Sullia on October 24.
