Mangalore, December 18: Dismissing speculations that he would damage Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda's poll prospects, his predecessor B S Yeddyurappa said that ever-smiling CM would definitely win the impending election.
Mr Yeddyurappa, who landed at Mangalore Airport along with his confidante Shobha Karandlaje on Sunday morning to begin his two-day Dakshina Kannada tour, replied to a few questions of media persons.
“There is no confusion in the Bharatiya Janata Party. The Chief Minister will win the election by an overwhelming majority,” he reiterated.
The former CM also denied the media reports that he has been exerting pressure on BJP top brass to elevate him to the post of state unit president of the party. “It is up to the party high command to take a final decision in this regard”, he said.
Asked about the verbal brawl between State BJP president K S Eshwarappa and independent MLA B Sriamulu, Mr Yeddyurappa said that he would try to sort out the issue.
Coastal Development Authority Chairman B Nagaraj Shetty and MLA Ganesh Karnik were present at the Airport to welcome the former CM.
