Mangalore, December 27: Cruise vessel M V Seven Seas Voyage with 665 cruise passengers and 449 crew members called at New Mangalore Port on Tuesday, December 27.
This is the ninth cruise vessel calling at the Port during the current financial year 2011-12. The vessel, which came from Goa sailed out to Cochin later in the evening.
Majority of the passengers were from USA and UK. 500 passengers opted for a ground tour arranged by M/s Ventour International, Mumbai/Lia Travels, Mangalore.
The passengers visited places like cashew processing unit at Bykampady, 1000 Pillar Jain temple, Moodabidri, monolithic statue of gomateshwara, at Karkala, Gokarnanatha temple, St.Aloysius chapel, city shopping at Mangalore and a traditional Mangalorean style house at Balmatta. M/s J.M. Baxi & Co. were the agents of the vessel.
Dr. P. Tamilvanan stated that the next cruise vessel is expected to call at NMPT on December 31. 2011 and two more vessels are scheduled during the first week of January 2012.
He also said that the Port has received a large parcel size Fertilizer vessel carrying 50,000 tonnes of DAP imported by MCF from USA handled by M/s Aspinwal & Co. for distribution among the farmers of Karnataka.
MV Father Neptune berthed at the Port on 25-12-2011 and the unloading operation is in full swing.
