The spot is around 8 kilometers away from Nadpalu town.
The body was found under the tree, in a sitting position, with hands tied. He was shot dead, it is learnt.
A poster, which said, “we taught the police informer a lesson” was also found displayed on the spot. It was a tough job for Sadashiv Gowda's younger brother Raju Gowda and his relatives to identify the body as it was totally decomposed for a week.
Inspector General Police, Anti Naxalite Force, Alok Kumar said that Gowda's relatives identified the body as that of Sadashiv Gowda and asked whether it was a naxalite act he said that more details could be ascertained only after further investigation.
It is to be noted here that a person claiming to be a naxalite by name Vishwa, had called a press person in Kundapur taluk and said to have taught a lesson to Gowda for being a police informer.
Following the rumor that Sadashiv Gowda had been kidnapped the Anti Naxalite Force and the police had intensified the combing operations in the forests.
Sadashiva Gowda, an unmarried and resident of Thingalamakki in Nadpalu village, was last seen in Mavinakatte, purchasing grocery from a petty shop on December 19.
