Mangalore, January 1: In a major reshuffle in police department, Karnataka government on Sunday transferred several IPS officers including Labhu Ram, the Superintendent of Police of Dakshina Kannada.
Mr Ram, a 2004 batch IPS officer, has been posted as the SP of Davanagere district. He had taken charge as the SP of DK in March 2011 following the transfer of A Subrahmanyeshwara Rao.
Abhishek Goyal is expected to replace Mr Ram in Dakshina Kannada.
The development comes in the backdrop of Sangh Parivar's demand to transfer him following the alleged 'police atrocity' on Hindutwa activists, who had pelted stones at police station in Sullia recently.
It can be mentioned here that in the aftermath of attack on police station, two cops had been suspended. The action against the cops was in the wake of the report by the State Additional Director General of Police Bipin Gopalkrishna who had probed the case including the stoning of the station and the reported police atrocities on the Hindutwa activists.
