Mangalore, January 5: A few of recent developments have given rise to the animosity between Dakshina Kannada district units of Bharatiya Janata Party and Congress party, with latter resorting to counter-allegations in reply the accusations of former.
Lashing out at Congress veteran B Janardhana Poojary who had accused the Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda for trying to convert his home district Dakshina Kannada into a republic of Sangh Parivar, former president of the district unit of the BJP K Monappa Bhandary said the Congress leaders are covertly supporting conversions and drug mafia.
Justifying the suspension of four police personnel following the allegation of 'police excess' on BJP workers in Sullia, Mr Bhandary said that it was a part of democratic process to take against those officers, against whom there were complaints.
Brushing aside the Poojary's criticism that the BJP government was not allowing honest police officials to work impartially, Mr Bhandary asked the former to get his facts right.
Mr Bhandary also found fault in the modes operandi Sullia police, who had allowed two men and two women brought to police station by right wing activists, to leave station together refusing to register any case against them.
