Mangalore, January 8: Parents have a major role to play in moulding the character of their children and making them responsible citizens of the country, said Dr. C.P. Habeeb Rahman, Director, Unity Health Complex, Mangalore.
Speaking at the annual day function of the Sneha Kindergarten and Public School in Pakkaladka near here, Dr. Rahman urged the parents to understand their responsibility in ensuring a bright future for their children.
Dr. Tajuddin K., associate professor at Kasturba Medical College, said the parents should not deny their children of education. “Poverty should not become an excuse for not sending your children to schools,” he said and lauded the efforts of Human Welfare Trust, the promoters of the school, in imparting value-based education.
Corporator Bhaskar Chandra Shetty, former Corporator b. Vishwanath, Jamate Islami Hind Mangalore Unit president Sayeed Ismail were the guests.
K.M. Sharief, chairman of Shanti Educational Trust, presided over the function. The programme began with the recitation of holy Quran by Kumari Nusaiba. Kumari Deepika welcomed the gathering. Headmistress Kumari Nagaratna presented the annual report. Mamatha proposed a vote of thanks. Fazia compered the programme.
The function was followed by cultural and entertainment programmes from the schoolchildren.
