Mangalore, January 8: Christian Forums pinned the blame on failure of police intelligence behind the brazen attacks on religious places at a meeting convened at the DC's office by Karnataka State Minority Commission (KSMC) chairman Anwar Manippady on Saturday.
At the meeting convened close on the heels of attack on Hebron Pentecostal Assembly at Haleyangadi, Karnataka Missions Network (KMN) president Walter Maben said repeated attacks on Christians for the past four years had proved beyond doubt the ineptness of police intelligence.
When vandals reach the place with media behind, police reach the spot when everyone has taken to heels.
Highlighting a conspiracy behind the repeated attacks on minority institutions and religious Centres, he said miscreants were hired goons to carry out systematic attacks.
The attacks had left them feeling like second class citizens, he rued.
KMN secretary Alvyn Colaco claimed witnessing a 13-year-old girl hugging her mother at Balamandir, Bondel, and confessing on being coerced to make false sexual allegations against a pastor.
Pentecostal Assembly priest Fr. John said that nearly 200 attacks were carried against Christian Institutions in Dakshina Kannada region from 2008.
Pastor of Pentacoastal Assembly at Haleyangadi Suresh said such attacks are justified by allegations of forcible conversions.
Those who suspect conversion at prayer halls can verify the truth with the participants attending prayer sessions.
Mr Manippady said the government's stand on according security to minorities will not change.
“We will try to avoid such attacks on religious places. Police protection will also be provided to prayer halls during prayers” he added.
