Mangalore, January 13: Thousands of youth thronged the Nehru Maidan in the heart of the city, with zeal, curiosity and excitement to experience various adventure activities on Friday.
The adventure camp was formally inaugurated as part of ongoing 17th National Youth Festival by Rakesh Mohan, Joint Secretary to the Department of Youth Affairs and Sports, and Director General, Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan, Govt.
Addressing the youth Mr Mohan assured that the efforts for promoting adventure activities in the country among youth would be continued.
He said that adventure is a basic character of youth and this enables youth to live in balanced manner during worst and challenging situation. He stressed that youth should come forward to associate with adventure activities.
Under the supervision of Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan, Rajasthan chapter of National Adventure Foundation started adventure activities in Nehru Maidan – Monkey Crawl, Flying Fox, Burma Bridge, Zorbing Ball, Artificial Wall Climbing.
Joint Secretary visited each activity and appreciated the huge youth participation. R K Kundoo, Nodal Officer of adventure activities briefed about the arrangements of the camp, while Magan Bissa of National Adventure Foundation briefed about the technical aspects.
As many as 20 instructors are providing their services for the success of the camp. During the visit of Joint Secretary, Dr. C S Pran, Director of Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan was also present. Palaiah, DFO, Bhuvanesh Jain, Deputy Director of NYKS, Lal Singh Kullu, D. Dayanand from Bijapur, Karnataka, S P Kaushik from Haryana welcomed the guest and participants.
