Mangalore, January 17: Chief Minister D.V. Sadananda Gowda said here on Monday that the State government will name a road and a circle in the city after Swami Vivekananda in memory of the 17th National Youth Festival organised here.
Speaking at the valedictory of the festival he asked the authorities of Mangalore City Corporation and the Mayor to send a proposal to this effect to the Government at the earliest.
He thanked M. Mohan Alva, Chairman, Alva's Education Foundation, Moodbidri, for designing and building a grand stage with a touch of nativity and decorating the Mangala stadium for the festival.
Meanwhile, official sources said that the Chief Minister on Monday directed the district administration to start clean up the city from Tuesday.
He instructed the officials to give the audited accounts of the festival to his office within a fortnight.
The Chief Minister before attending the valedictory function held a meeting with officials to know how the festival progressed, sources said. The State Government had released Rs. 10 crore and the Union Government Rs. 2 crore to the festival.
