Mangalore, January 23: Law and order situation has improved in the Uppinangay town in Puttur taluk, as the police are doing their best to prevent untoward incidents following the Hindu Samajotsava, which was trailed by sporadic incidents of violence.
Uppinangady police also have filed cases against influential RSS leader Kalladka Prabhakar Bhatt, who had threatened to shoot down Muslim youths in his public speech on Sunday evening.
“The cases were filed under IPC section 153A and 295 A for promoting enmities between communities and causing national disintegration”, said a source from Uppinangady police station.
Meanwhile local Muslim leaders have also appealed the youths of their community not to be provoked by the situation.
“Communal forces want to divide the nation by provoking the feelings of minorities and instigating the majority youths to attack the former. We should foil their conspiracy”, said Abdul Azeez Musliar, a Muslim cleric.
“After listening to the speech of Kalladka Bhat yesterday, I had planned to quit the place for few days fearing the aftermath. However, peace-loving citizens of Uppinangady from both Hindu and Muslim communities have thwarted the attempt of communal forces,” said Venu Sharma, a teacher.
