Karkala, January 29: Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda on Saturday stressed the need to make younger generation aware of the ideals, sacrifices and teachings of Koti and Chennayya, legendary heroes of Tulunadu.
Inaugurating the first phase of the Koti Chennayya Theme Park here, Mr. Gowda said the work had been completed at a cost of Rs. 1.78 crore. In the second phase, an herbal garden in memory of Deye Baidethi, mother of Koti and Chennayya, would be established at the park. A meeting would be held in Bangalore shortly to discuss the plan for the work related to the second phase.
The government wanted to develop park as a major tourist centre in the State and canteen and toilet facilities would be provided there, he said.
The government was committed to developing Karkala as a historical and pilgrim centre. “I consider Udupi as my own district. I will give importance to all development projects in the district,” Mr. Gowda said.
Road-widening
Mr. Gowda launched the work on widening Bandimath-Ananthashayana road to be taken up at a cost of Rs. 2 crore. He also inaugurated the Bandimath Bus Terminus constructed at a cost of Rs. 1.10 crore.
