Mangalore, February 1: 'Imprints-2012', a two days national level science festival was inaugurated organised the Science faculty of St Aloysius College was inaugurated on the College premises on Wednesday.
The theme for Imprints-2012 is 'science fiction—the innovative reality'.
Orthopaedic surgeon and Nitte University Vice-Chancellor Dr M Shantharam Shetty will inaugurated the fest and St Aloysius institutions Rector Rev Fr Joseph Rodrigues preside over the programme.
The two-day fest consists of eleven events like 'Ice breaker' (the meltdown), biological science event—the survivor, computer science event—'techyyz showdown,' physical science event—'the matrix,' debate—'war of words,' quiz—'the knowledge bowl,' treasure hunt— 'pirates of the Arabian,' awareness—'Scifantassy,' Imprints personality—'Star wars,' newsletter— 'Wall-E,' science model exhibition— 'transformers.'
The highlight of the festival was science exhibition. There were more than 70 exhibits in the exhibition, which is open for all the school kids.
Student coordinator of the College, Tejaswi Bhandary said that most of the development in science today is because of the very fact that long time back someone imagined it to be possible, and scientists put this imagination into action. Science fiction can also be taken as the wakeup call, warning us about future, preparing us for what is ahead.
