Mangalore, February 6: In an apparent revenge killing, a 20-year-old youth was stabbed to death and thrown in a thorn bush near Janthabettu on the outskirts of the city.
The victim has been identified as Hemanth, who was the main accused in the murder case of Manikantha alias Mani. Manikantha was stabbed to death by a group of miscreants in the wee hours of Sunday following a clash in the Nemotsava at MRPL Colony at Chelyaru near Suratkal.
Though Suratkal Police had successfully nabbed eight people in connection with the Mani murder case by Sunday afternoon, they could not trace Hemanth, who was considered to be the main accused.
It is learnt that though Hemanth evaded the arrest, he could not escape from the hands of miscreants, who were longing to take revenge for the murder of Mani.
The incident came to light on Monday morning, when local people informed the police about a dead body with stab injuries on its neck, chest and stomach.
Police are of the suspicion that at least four persons might have involved in the revenge killing, including a relative of Mani.
A case has been registered and investigations are on.
