Udupi, February 11: Fearing his name being dragged in to the Rave Party issue, Udupi MLA K Raghupathi Bhat, on Friday made clear that he had no partnership in hosting the Spring Zouk Island Festival as alleged by his political rivals.
It is to be noted here that Udupi Block Congress Committee President Pramod Madhwaraj had alleged that out of the Rs 3 crore raised from the Rave Party, only Rs 5 lakhs had gone to the district administration and rest to Raghupathi Bhat's kitty.
Speaking to press persons Mr Bhat said that because Girish Shetty, one of the party organizers was his classmate, his name cannot be included in the list of party organizers.
If there was anything illegal in the Island, stern action shall be initiated even against Girish, he said ruling out his role in hosting the party.
“I took part in the inaugural function of the Island Festival as an invitee. After seeing the foreigners in half nude attire I had even told the Deputy Commissioner not to play host to such parties in future”, Bhat said.
He said that they have a learnt a lesson from the issue. “This is our first attempt to promote tourism, it would not be repeated in future”, he said adding that they would host a pure 'desi' festival in the Island and that would be without liquor, without foreigners and will be held only in the daylight. Indian culture, art and artists will be promoted at that festival, Bhat added.
