Mangalore, February 14: Mangalore city police are investigating after a man was brutally murdered near State Bank bus terminus in the city on Tuesday evening.
The 45-year-old man identified as Disnesh, a textile shop manager, was attacked with sword by four unidentified assailants at around 7:30 pm inside the shop in front of the shocked onlookers, sources said.
Police said that they are still investigating and interviewing witnesses, but they believe the version of the localitesm according to whom, the assailants, who came in a Tata Sumo, stormed into in Kanchan textiles and killed the man.
Owners of the shop Deepak and Vijay, who tried to stop the assailants, said that the intruders were speaking Kannada. Deepak sustained injuries on his hand while trying to help Dinesh.
Sniffer dogs were pressed into action while finger print experts were called in within half an hour after the incident, police sources said.
A case has been registered at Pandeshwar police station.
