Mangalore, February 20: As many as 60 workers from different political parties have joined the Janata Dal (Secular) at a function held in the party office here.
JD (S) Dakshina Kannada District unit president M.B. Sadashiva welcomed them to the party fold by handing over the flag of the party.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Sadashiva hit out at BJP for misusing the youth power for anti-social activities. "BJP leaders are good at instigating youth to unleash riots. Those misled by these leaders then get trapped in several criminal cases. The leaders of the BJP then wash their hands off. There is not a single case registered against leaders of the BJP in connection with riots and violence. But many innocent workers are trapped in court cases," he said.
He also took exception to the BJP government's move of releasing funds for temples and maths at the cost of develoopmental activities.
"The BJP government released lakhs of rupese to temples and maths. We don't have objections to that. But what about the development work? Not even a single paisa has been sent on developing infrastructure in the State," he said.
Vasanth Poojary, vice president of the JD(S) district unit, Ramganesh, general secretary and coporator Harish K. were present.
