Mangalore, February 22: City based ISKCON will be celebrating Sri Sri Krishna Balarama Rathayathra on Saturday, February 25. According the Hindu mythology, it is the day on which the Sri Krishna along with his elder brother Balarama makes a journey to give darshana to all his devotees.
A press release issued by the organisers stated that the chariots carrying the deities of Sri Krishna and Balarama would proceed through the streets of Mangalore that evening. The deities on the majestic chariot will be receiving a warm welcome by the people of Mangalore all the way.
The chariot will be decorated with variety of fragrant flowers and illuminated with sparkling lights. The deities of the lordship will be decorated by jewels and ornaments, flower garlands and silken garments.
The procession will start from the City Center at 6:00 pm. Devotees can offer flowers at the lotus feet of their lordship and can pull the chariot. There will be other seva opportunities also. The entire atmosphere will be spiritually powered by the chanting of Hare Krishna maha mantra, the release said.
The prasadam, food remnants offered at the idol will be distributed by the volunteers throughout the journey, it said.
