Mangalore, February 24: The Kannada film Tuglak produced by Udupi-based White Ayre Entertainment hit the screens in Mangalore and Udupi on Friday.
In Udupi, the film was released at Kalpana cinema. Lakshmivara Tirtha Swamiji of Shiroor Mutt graced the occasion. In Mangalore it was screened in Prabhat cinema.
In the film, the protagonist Raghavendra alias Raagu is referred to as Tuglak by his friends and acquaintances. He is a confused person who makes illogical decisions. He falls in love with two girls and is unable to choose between them. In the quest for love, Raagu takes the audience through a roller coaster ride. The story, screenplay, and direction is by Aravind Kaushik.
According to Rakshit Shetty, the hero of the film, the Tuglak had been released in Bangalore two weeks ago and got good response. The film had been produced at a cost of Rs. 1.2 crore.
Mr Shetty, who along with costars Meghana Gaonkar, Balu Nagendra, and Rishabh Shetty, visited Udupi on Thursday to promote the film said: “We released the movie in 13 cinemas in select centres because we wanted the word of mouth publicity.”
Mr Shetty said that there was now a difference between class and mass films in the State. But this film crossed the distinction and was liked by all. The dance and fight sequences in the film were different from other films. That had been the reaction of the people who had seen the films, he said.
