The centre will be housed in Devaki Nivas at Matadakani ,1st cross in Urwa Market. Spread across 2000 sq feet the premises will be dedicated to art, announced Madhusoodan Kumar, Dr Pramila Salian and Koti Prasad Alva at a news conference here on Thursday.
On the inaugural day traditional paintings, sculptures, ceramic works, photographs will be put on display. Cultural activities will also be organized. One section of the centre will always be dedicated for displays and exhibitions. The founder of the internationally famous Progressive Artists' Group, Francis Newton, will display traditional oil paintings of Mohenjo-daro. Artworks of the members of the forum from the 1940s like K H Ara, S H Rajah and S Bakri will also be on display.
The works of 1970s popular artists like K K Hebbar, A A. Raiba, Ambadas, Kishori Kaul, Rekha Rao will also be presented. Works of present generation artists like Ramesh Rao, P S Punchithaya , Ganesh Somayaji, Dr PramilaSalian and Jagath Ammunje's will also be put on display.
The institution promoted by Madhusoodhan Educational Foundation, will also encourage budding artists by conducting training classes. It will also be a forum to hone the extracurricular talents of schoolchildren. National and International artists can also display their work. Programmes will be conducted in associations with other art forums.
The premises will also become a tourist attraction along with Sulthan Battery. The permanent gallery of the hub will be will be inaugurated by renowned artist Ramesh Rao. Artist Madhusoodhan Kumar's book on art will be released on the occasion. The portal of the hub will be launched be launched by famous artist Ganesh Somayaji. The hub is being set up in memory of Srimat Devaki Jarappa and will be supervised by Dr Pramila Salian and Poornanath.
